Have you been reluctant to jump into music gaming because the controllers seem too complicated? Well, Harmonix’ upcoming “Rock Band 3” has a blast from the past that might put you back in your comfort zone: a 25-key MIDI keyboard with a handle on one side and a place to hang a strap. Yes, a keytar! Your childhood dream of rocking out like Devo is one step closer to reality.

In the series of hugely popular rhythm games, players use special guitar, microphone and drum controllers to try and keep up with notes played on screen from some of rock’s most popular songs. The new Mad Catz-designed keytar will be bundled with sales of “Rock Band 3.”

The game will feature 83 songs, including Foreigner’s “Cold as Ice,” Yes’ “Roundabout” and J. Geils Band’s “Centerfold,” all seen in the trailer below. “Rock Band 3” ships October 26 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.

And yes, “Whip It” is on the playlist. Energy Dome headgear not included.
